Culinary & Hospitality Instructor (Part-Time)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County is seeking a part-time Culinary & Hospitality Instructor to teach middle and high school aged youth at the Tom & Debbie Shapiro Career Resource Center two to three evenings a week.  Classes are offered Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Fridays between the hours of 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and will be highly interactive.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Develops hands-on lesson plans and instructional materials that meet programmatic and organizational goals.
  • Prepares fully for weekly classroom instruction and special events.
  • Enforces sanitation principles.
  • Provides effective classroom management and a positive learning environment for students.
  • Recognizes individual differences in the classroom and adapts instructional techniques accordingly.

Requirements of the position include:

  • Knowledge of front-of-the-house management, culinary arts, and sanitation principles.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in one or more of the following areas: high volume food service, fine dining, and hospitality.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Teen Engagement Specialist (Part-time)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County is seeking a part-time Teen Engagement Specialist to facilitate highly interactive, service-based curriculum to middle and high school aged youth.  The Teen Engagement Specialist position will strengthen connections with our non-profit community by providing service opportunities to our youth members.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Facilitates SRQVolunteen Training Program
  • Develops, enhances, and assesses service-based curriculum and instructional materials that meet programmatic and organizational goals.
  • Prepares fully for weekly classroom instruction and special events.
  • Organizes off-site community service days and special youth training events.
  • Provides effective classroom management and a positive learning environment for students.
  • Recognizes individual differences in the classroom and adapts instructional techniques accordingly.

Requirements of the position include:

  • Belief in the mission, principles, values and standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and implement a multi-faceted work load.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.  Programs will run on weekends and evenings.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

College & Career Success Coach

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County is seeking a full-time College & Career Success Coach to assist students with career planning/exploration, employment opportunities, and college admissions.  The College & Career Coordinator position will help students and their families navigate financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and will work closely with teachers, school administrators, and our non-profit community to ensure students’ post-secondary success.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide career-related workshops, job employment services, field trips to encourage career exploration, and job shadowing opportunities for teens.
  • Develop, enhance, and assess career planning curriculum and instructional materials that meet programmatic and organizational goals.
  • Provide education and ongoing support for members and parents with: the college admissions process, application procedures, required testing, and financial aid/scholarship opportunities.
  • Contact, schedule and arrange guest speakers from the local business community and colleges to help students and parents understand career and college entrance information.
  • Facilitate vocational school visits and college tours for middle and high school aged students.
  • Work with school administrators and staff, local agencies, governmental bodies, and businesses to foster coordination of services for post-secondary educational and employment planning.
  • Plan, organize, and implement college and career events.
  • Maintain scholarship and financial aid database and help students/parents understand their financial aid options; provide assistance in completing application forms when necessary.

Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience.

Youth Development Professional (Part-Time)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County is seeking a part-time Youth Development Professional (YDP) to plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and events in Teen Programming. The YDP will promote the safety of members, the quality of programs, and the appearance of the Club at all times.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Coordinate program services and cooperative learning activities for members that are both fun and instructional.
  • Promote program participation.
  • Establish positive relationships with members, and their parents and/or guardians.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling for members.
  • Keep records of participants, schedules, and attendance.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Others duties as assigned.
