Boys & Girls Club members rock the boat with Intertape Polymer Group

Team Outatime races IPG’s Duct Dynasty in the final race and wins the title of Ultimate Rock the Boat Regatta Champion.

The Inaugural Rock the Boat Regatta with Intertape Polymer Group (IPG) took place on Friday, July 28, at the Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Club pool. Two weeks prior to the big event, 12 teams, including 50 employees from IPG and 200 Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Club members, constructed their boats big enough to hold two passengers using solely cardboard and a variety of IPG’s colored duct tape.

“It was so fun building our boats with IPG!” said Club member Ghita, 11. “We got to use our imagination and work as a team.”

Teams were divided into three brackets including the 9-12-Year-Olds, Teens and CEOs. The winners of each bracket included:

  • 9-12-Year-Olds: Team Outatime;
  • Teens: Jackson Storm; and
  • CEOs: IPG President/CEO Greg Yull and Duct Dynasty.

Jackson Storm won the race between the 9-12-Year-Olds and the Teens, and faced off against Duct Dynasty in the final race. Jackson Storm had a photo finish in the final race and was named the Ultimate Rock the Boat Regatta Champion.

Awards were also given to teams who were the Most Creative and the Fastest. The Most Creative award went to Team Ferrari, and the Fastest award went to Team Outatime.

“This event was truly a celebration of our great partnership with IPG,” said Bill Sadlo, President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County. “Because of their support, our kids are the real winners today.”
