Jonna D. Keller, Managing Member of First Security Investments, LLC in Sarasota, Fla., has been announced as one of three national finalists for the Community Service Award as part of the eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards. Keller is being honored for her work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, which will receive a $5,000 donation from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. If Keller wins her category, the donation will increase to $20,000.
The Invest in Others Awards program recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors and financial services firms in communities across the country and around the world. Advisors are nominated by their peers for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others. There are five award categories for advisors and two for financial services companies.
Invest in Others received hundreds of nominations this year and finalists were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves. Nominations were blindly reviewed by a diverse panel of judges representing industry associations and national media outlets.
Over the past eight years, Jonna Keller has worked closely with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County (BGCSC), organizing fundraising events and offering guidance through leadership positions on its Board of Directors. BGCSC strives to enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Each year, the organization serves 5,000 underrepresented youths, providing services such as college and career preparation, character and leadership development, and recreational activities. In addition to serving as the Chair-elect of the five clubs in Sarasota County, Keller leads the Women Ambassadors, which is a group of women who come together with the common goal of changing and improving the lives of children in the community. The group has raised more than $750,000 for after-school programming at BGCSC. Keller also played a critical role in connecting BGCSC’s youth with today’s technology by creating Tech Readers Enrich Kids (T.R.E.K.), which provides electronic readers to at-risk students. T.R.E.K. allows youth who may face homelessness and other instabilities to access school materials in a reliable way. Keller believes BGCSC can save children’s lives and create opportunity, allowing youth to feel good about themselves and break the cycle of poverty.
Awards will be presented at the eleventh annual Invest in Others Awards Gala, a premier event attended by nearly 600 financial advisors and financial services executives, on September 28, 2017 in New York City.
